Who am I?
I have a destination management company called Groundwork by Julie Abbot Ltd. I specialise in caring for incentive and conference clients who would love an unforgettable experience in New Zealand and ensuring this is achieved.
I’ve had a fabulous working life, first as a nurse and then a nurse educator, before having the privilege of owning a model agency and launching many aspiring young people into the world of advertising and fashion.
This then led me into public relations and the world of hospitality. I spent eight wonderful years working at the Christchurch Parkroyal Hotel (now the Crowne Plaza). This experience began in a public relations role during the wonderful 'opening' phase of the hotel before I fell in love with the myriad of rewarding challenges of the incentive and conference market. The insight gained during this time continues to provide immeasurable benefits to my business.
With the encouragement of many clients in the conference and incentive business, I opened the doors of my company, Groundwork, just over 10 years ago.
Where do I work ?
I work in the many incentive and conference destinations throughout New Zealand.
- The Bay of Islands - a sparkling jewel of islands in the far north
- Rotorua – the thermal wonderland of New Zealand
- Taupo - under the shadow of the majestic Mount Ruapehu
- Marlborough – one of New Zealand’s most famous wine growing regions
- Christchurch – my home town , and of course New Zealands’ most beautiful city
- Queenstown – so much more than just a winter wonderland
- Wanaka – guaranteed to take your breath away !
My Clients
During my 10 years in business, I have had the pleasure of sharing my fabulous country
and its many surprises with 100’s of wonderful guests.
I’ve worked with groups from 10 to 3,000 and in industries from motor vehicles to finance, from pharmaceutical to real estate, from the travel industry itself through to a variety of media businesses.
And every one was fun!
